48 out of the 58 US and Canadian jurisdictions have waived interest on late-filed IFTA returns

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic a number of IFTA jurisdictions, with the exception of AL, GA, LA, MI, MN, NJ, NY, NC, NS, RI, have waved penalty and interest charges through May 26, 2020 on late-filed IFTA tax returns that were due April 30, 2020. This means that in the tax returns filed after due date, but before May 27,2020 interest will be paid ONLY in the above mentioned 10 states and ONLY IF there are miles in those states.

However, KY, NM and NY have not extended the due date for KY, NM, NY quarterly tax returns, which are due on April 30, 2020 as always.

So, even if your base jurisdiction allows you to file your IFTA return till May 27, 2020, make sure to file your NM, KY, NY quarterly tax returns on time in order to avoid late filing penalties and interest.
