FMCSA has revised Drug and Alcohol Policy Compliance Guidance in response to disruptions and interventions caused by COVID-19 national emergency.

The updated Guidance is effective through June 30 and allows Motor Carriers to employ drivers who:

- successfully completed Drug testing within the past 30 days and/or within the past 6 months from the date of Application;

-participated in random controlled substances testing program within past 12 months;

after ensuring that no violations were discovered in previous employer’s records.

Additionally, random and post-accident testing must be documented indicating the specific reasons if there was no possibility to conduct them. Random Testing must be kept up to the required 50% for Drug Testing and 10% for Alcohol testing by the end of the year.
